What heroin addiction was like for me:
Waking up in the morning sick from withdrawals. Always had to come up with a plan to get money to buy a bag of heroin, just to get cured and feel normal. First, lie to my mother to get money from her or search the home for anything I can sell. If that didn't work, then call my dope family to see if they have any funds or a plan to get funds to get high. If that didn't work, then I'm off to the General Hospital, not to get help, but to steal a car from their parking lot, even with security cameras watching. Then drive across town in the stolen car, and in those days Lawrence Mass police were always on the lookout for people like me in stolen cars. But I didn't care, because all I cared about was getting high, getting that first bag of the day in order to avoid going into full withdrawals. I'd park the stolen car... read more-> What heroin addiction was like for me

But not many people are able to quit heroin and stay clean at all. So if you've managed to quit and stay clean for even one day, then I commend you and congratulate you. Because even 1 day clean from heroin is a major accomplishment as well. However, whether you've made it to Day 1, Week 1, or even Week 2, it's important to remember that the battle has just begun and must continue to be fought and won, each and every day. It won't be easy, but it can... read more-> How to avoid a relapse on heroin and opiate drugs
How to Deal with PAWS, Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome:
It's an amazing feeling to wake up in the morning and feel your normal body once again. No withdrawals. No cold chills. No having to worry about scrambling for money just to buy a bag of dope just to feel normal. It's like the difference from night and day. It's a whole new life, for you, and for your loved ones as well. When you come off of heroin and opiate drugs for good then remember, you're going to go through what is called PAWS, Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome, the after effects from coming off of heroin and opioid drugs which includes depression, anxiety, sleeplessness and emotional ups and downs, exhaustion physically, emotionally and mentally as well. It takes time for the brain and body to heal. But there are some things that you can do to help yourself feel better. read more-> How to deal with PAWS, Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome
If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again:
If at first you don’t succeed, then you try and try again. And you keep on trying until you whip this drug, once and for all! You can’t slow down. And you can’t take a break. You get back up and try again. Keep reading this website over and over again until you become brainwashed with the thoughts of quitting heroin, staying clean, and turning your life around. And then do it. Take action! Start the battle! Again! Because with or without meds, there will be a battle. With or without Suboxone, there will still be a battle. Too many times, people give up after Day 1, Day 2, and even Day 3. Just when things were about to get better, they throw in the towel and give up the fight. And what’s worse is that instead of getting back up and trying again, they stay down for the count for weeks, months and sometimes... read more-> If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again

Staying clean & starting a new life by relocating:
If you can’t stay clean where you’re at and/or would like to start a whole new life somewhere else then you may want to consider relocating, moving to somewhere new. Another city, another state, another country, anywhere away from where you are now. The farther you move from your current location then the better off you’ll be. Although relocation may seem extreme for some, but sometimes, it’s necessary. And if you’ve already relocated before then you can always try again. I had to relocate 3 times within Central Florida before I got it right. Relocation worked for me and for many others as well, and it can work for you too. Why relocate? To change people, places, things; to get away from dealers and friends who would draw us back into drugs; to get away from familiar dope spots and... read more-> Staying clean from heroin & starting a new life by relocating

Over 20 years clean from heroin:
Over 20 years clean from heroin, and clean from every other drug since March 1st 2009. Started using drugs at the age of 13. Started using heroin at the age of 15. And from there on out the nightmare began - a life of lying, cheating and stealing cars, addicted to heroin unable to stop. For the next 5 years I would continue to use heroin and most other drugs. I tried to quit many times but failed repeatedly over and over and over again. I tried everything; cold turkey, methadone, the clinic, medical detox, inpatient rehab, etc. But no matter what I tried I just couldn’t get myself to stop using and stay clean for good. Then came Jorgie (Georgie), my son, and my whole world changed. I can’t explain it in words, but being present and seeing him being born did something to me from the inside out. For the first time... read more-> Over 20 years clean from heroin
Relocating changed my life:
I would have never been able to stay clean while living in Lawtown, Lawrence Massachusetts. A heroin addiction and a life of lying, cheating and stealing cars would have led me to prison, the hospital or the cemetery. Although I hated to leave and be away from family and friends, relocation was necessary for me if I ever wanted to have a better life, for my girl, myself and for my first born son, who was my main reason and motivation for getting clean and turning my life around. It wasn't easy, and it took a few tries at first, but eventually I was able to get it together and get to where I needed to be. First time, I made it to Orlando in a rental car, got clean and stayed clean and lasted for a few weeks. But I convinced myself that I needed a vehicle and I had to go back to Mass to get it, (an excuse). read more-> Relocating Changed My Life
How to change and how to change your life:
Quitting heroin and opiate drugs is one battle, but changing our lives and who we are is another. And for some of you, there will come a time in your life where you’ll actually tell yourself,… “I want to change”. And this is good. This is great. It’s a start. And this can become the beginning of a whole new life for you as well. So for those of you who want to change, then you may want to consider the following: We need to change, so that we can become better people. We need to change, so that we can have and live better lives. And most importantly, we need to change for the sake of others so that someday we can help others to change as well. But in order to help others to change, we need to change first. And believe it or not, people change, we can change, and you can change too. In order to change... read more-> How to change and how to change your life
How to fix your life pt.1: Finances, work, housing:
Once you’ve quit heroin and have stayed clean for some time, then it’s time to start fixing your life; because you cant do both. You can’t do heroin and fix your life at the same time. You have to quit heroin first, and then fix your life. And if you managed to quit heroin before your life fell apart then great! Wonderful. Now you can go back to your normal life, if that’s what’s you want to do. Or, you can start a whole new life all over again from scratch. And if you’re still hooked on dope, then keep reading so that you’ll have a good idea of what lies ahead. If you’re like most heroin addicts, or recovering drug addicts, then most likely, you’ve messed up your life, in one form or another, and now it’s time to fix it. And I’m sure some of you have a lot of problems. But the most common problems within... read more-> How to fix your life pt.1: Finances, work, housing

Whether you've caused problems in the relationship with your friends, your family, or your boyfriend or girlfriend in some form or another, the damage has been done. And if you have then maybe now's the time to start making things right. That's the only way that you're going to be able to fix your life, is by making amends, and making things right with anyone that you have hurt in any way. If you’re living with your parents then great! Wonderful! At least you still have your mother, your father or both by your side. If you still have your wife, then consider yourself fortunate. If you still have your husband, then consider yourself... read more-> How to fix your life pt.2: Relationships, family, social life
How to fix your life pt.3: Legal, education, health:
Some of you, (not all of you), but some of you may have legal matters to take care of. You may have fines, court fines, probation fees or tickets to pay as well. You may have a suspended drivers license that you need to fix. But all of that can be taken care of with money and time. And the only way to get the money to pay those fines is to work, and work hard. And that’s exactly what you’re going to have to do - is to work hard to pay off all your court fines as fast as you can. If you’re on probation, then all you have to do is keep your nose clean and stay out of trouble. Stay away from the people and stay away from the drugs. And believe it or not, if they find drugs in your system when you’re tested for drugs then there’s a good chance that they can send you to jail. And that’s the last... read more-> How to fix your life pt.3: Legal, education, health, happiness
Life lessons learned:
March 1st 2009 was the last day I ever touched any type of drugs at all. Over 8 years clean from everything, and over 20 years clean from heroin. And through it all, I learned a lot of hard lessons in life, the hard way. And one of most important lessons I learned in life was that yes, it's important to quit drugs, but it's even more important to become a better person - a kind, loving, honest person, so that you can have a positive effect upon others and have a better life for yourself as well. And I wish I would've put these things into practice in my life a long, long time ago. Believe me, if I could go back in time, I would've done a lot of things differently. I would've practiced kindness daily, with friends, family, and everyone else who came my way. I would've been a much better husband, a much better dad... read more-> Life lessons learned
There's nothing more special than finding people who want to change and become better people:
It’s great to find people who want to quit drugs, heroin, coke, crack, meth, etc, but there's nothing more special than finding people who want to change and become better people – kind, loving, honest people. Because believe it or not people can change – we can change. And as long as we’re trying to do the right thing in every area of our lives then things can begin to get better. Our whole lives can begin to change. We may have to reap a little from our past, but eventually, things can begin to change. Sometimes, it just takes time. And sometimes, things can begin to change rather quickly. Hang in there, have patience and keep moving forward one day at a time. We can do it. Even if you lose it all, don't let anything stop you from quitting these drugs and turning your life around. read more-> There's nothing more special than finding people who want to change
How we treat people is so important:
How we treat people is so important, especially the homeless, the panhandlers, the people who ask you for spare change. These people are rejected and mistreated daily, and at the end of the day a lot of them go back to the woods, where they sleep, where they live. And a lot of them think about suicide every day. So please, if you have the opportunity to come across any of our fellow people please use that opportunity to show them kindness in any way that you can. Whether it be by giving them your spare change, or a few dollars, or buying them some water or something to eat, or something to wear, along with a pat on the shoulder and a “hang in there man”, and even taking a little bit of time to listen to their story as well, any act of kindness towards them would mean a lot more to them than we may think. read more-> How we treat people is so important
Thinking About Suicide? Think again. Please read:
There are a lot of people out there struggling with the thoughts and tendencies of suicide and taking their own life in order to help them forget about and end all their problems. A lot of people out there have been through and are going through a lot of serious problems: drug addiction, alcoholism, traumatic childhood memories, abuse, sexual assault, domestic violence, bullying, divorce, a broken family, the loss of a child or a loved one, depression, loneliness, hopelessness, mental illness and more. Even certain types of medications can cause a person to have suicidal thoughts and tendencies. And all of these are very serious problems. But trust me, suicide is not the answer. Using drugs and alcohol to cover the pain is not the solution. Reaching out for help is the answer. Getting the help you need is a start. read more-> Thinking About Suicide? Think again
It's important to quit drugs, but it's also important to become a better person - a kind, loving, honest person:
I found out a long time ago that yes, it’s important to quit drugs, coke, crack, meth, weed, heroin, alcohol etc, but without a change in behavior it’s going to become very difficult to have a better life. Even if you quit all drugs, it’s going to be very difficult to have a better life without trying to become a better person – a kind, loving, honest person. It’s so important to become an honest person and be honest in every way with everyone you meet. And for some of us, that means no more lying, cheating, stealing no matter what. Tell the truth always, no matter what. Don’t lie, don’t cheat, don’t steal anything, no matter what. And believe me, I was one of the biggest lying, cheating, thieves of them all, and as a result I had to learn some of the greatest lessons of my life. read more-> It's important to quit drugs, but it's also important to become a better person
How I learned about compassion and encouragement:
The first time I ever saw what true and genuine compassion was, was in my teenage years when me and my cousin Hery Irizarry (Edito), who is like my brother, were on our way upstairs to the addict to use drugs when he stopped and looked out the window and saw a relative outside shoveling snow all by himself. My cousin, stopped and I said, “I gotta help him”, and he went back downstairs and went outside to help. I was a very selfish and uneducated person at the time and was baffled and confused as to why he would choose to help someone over getting high. It took me many years to realize that at the very moment he had “compassion” to help someone else over himself. He felt sorry for him and went out to help him right away. That was one of the best and most genuine examples... read more-> How I learned about compassion and encouragement
How to help your son or daughter quit heroin:
If your son or daughter is hooked on heroin, then don’t despair. There may still be hope. As long as you’re still in communication with them then there may still be hope yet. But you must act quickly and prepare yourself as well. We have a lot of work to do, and time is of the essence. And if you want to help your child quit heroin then you may want to take the time to read the following article, Part 1, and Part 2 and then prepare yourself for battle. If you’re going to help your child quit heroin, stay clean and turn their life around, then you’re going to have to become willing and determined to do whatever it takes to do so, even if it means sending them on their way, (if that’s what it takes to bring about change). In other words, it’s going to be your way, or the highway. Because when it comes to... read more-> How to help your son or daughter quit heroin
How to help your boyfriend or husband quit heroin:
If your boyfriend or husband is hooked on heroin, then don’t panic and don’t despair, for there may still be hope for him yet.And if you’re going to help him, then you’re going to need to prepare yourself first and then move forward quickly. Heroin kills. This drug kills. And the sooner you try to help your boyfriend or husband then the sooner you'll save his life. And if you're mad, angry and feeling resentment towards him, then the first thing you're going to have to do is to try your best to put those feelings aside. You cant help him if you're angry. The only way that you're going to be able to help him is in a kind and loving manner. If you’re going to help your man quit heroin then you’re going to have to be willing and determined to do whatever it takes to do so, no matter what that may... read more-> How to help your boyfriend or husband quit heroin
How to help your friends and family quit heroin:
Whether it’s your friend, your friends’ friend, or a relative that you’re trying to help, the first thing that we’re going to have to do, if we’re going to get any help to them at all, is to try our best to become as calm and as kind as we possibly can and then proceed to help them in a kind and loving manner. Many times, for friends, it’s a lot easier to help a fellow friend in need because many times friends are less angry and judgmental towards the addict than family members are. But that’s because in most cases, it’s the family who has to endure the impact of the consequences for the loved ones’ addiction. However, as a friend or a relative, we can’t really help them if we’re angry with them. We can’t really help them when we’re mad. The only way that we’re going to be able to help anyone in any manner... read more-> How to help your friends and family quit heroin
How to know if someone is still using heroin:
Unless they came clean to you on their own then there’s always a good chance that he or she may still be using heroin, each and every day. And in this article, I will refer to he or she as a he, as this is the case more often than not. But the same applies to her as well. And if you caught your daughter, girlfriend, or wife, smoking, snorting or shooting heroin then chances are she wasn't ready to come clean and quit this drug yet. If you caught your son, boyfriend, or husband, smoking, snorting or shooting heroin then chances are he wasn't ready to quit this drug quite yet. That doesn’t mean that they can’t be helped. Chances are they can be helped since many addicts want to quit but simply don't know how or where to go for help. They fear the pain and agony of the heroin withdrawals... read more-> How to know if someone is still using heroin

If you or someone you know is shooting up heroin, or has overdosed from heroin at one time or another, or is in danger of overdosing from opiate drugs such as heroin, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone and other opiate drugs, then you need to learn about Naloxone, also known as Narcan, the life-saving, overdose reversal drug. If you or someone you know is using heroin or any opiate drugs then you need to obtain and keep Narcan / Naloxone in your home, or on your person at all times just in case an overdose may occur. What is heroin:
Heroin is without a doubt, the absolute worst drug in the world and is the most addictive drug amongst its class of illegal drugs. There is no other drug like heroin. Heroin is a highly addictive and rapidly acting opiate, (a drug that is derived from opium). It is produced from morphine, which is the main component of opium. Opium is a naturally occurring substance that is extracted from the seedpod of the Asian opium poppy plant. The appearance of heroin varies. Heroin is normally sold as a powder that is white (or off-white) in color. White powder. The purer the heroin the whiter the color. However, variations in color result from the presence of impurities such as when heroin comes in light shades of grey as well as beige powder. Again, heroin, when pure, comes as a white powder but... read more-> What is heroin
What is a heroin addiction:
Heroin addiction is the absolute worst drug addiction in the world which eventually becomes a chaotic lifestyle for most. Heroin addiction is both physical and psychological slavery in the worst form possible. Once the user becomes addicted to heroin, they become a slave to the drug by default. They have to have it or else they'll get sick – very, very sick. And if that heroin doesn't make it to those receptors in the brain soon then the user will begin to go into severe and painful withdrawal. For an addict, heroin is the only cure. And he or she can not function properly without heroin in their system unless the addict is on a mission to get their fix. Then that's when some addicts turn into desperate James Bonds and begin to plan and execute reckless missions in order to get high and get cured, while others... read more-> What is a heroin addiction

I started using drugs when I was about 13 years old. Little did I know however, that smoking weed would soon lead to snorting coke, smoking crack, shooting heroin and going to jail, over and over and over again. My life is based upon a true story, of ups and downs, failures and successes, so please bare with me.
