Drug Court Programs: Recognizing the need for an alternative to prosecution and incarceration for first time drug offenders, the Fifth Circuit has implemented several Drug Court Programs. Modeled after nationally recognized drug courts, it offers a continuum of drug education and treatment alternatives. The court proceedings are unique in that they are non-adversarial in nature with a dedicated Drug Court Judge or Magistrate who oversees each participant’s progress and holds them accountable for their actions while receiving substance abuse treatment. Drug Courts are court-supervised, comprehensive drug treatment courts for eligible non-violent defendants. The voluntary program involves numerous appearances before the Drug Court judge or magistrate, substance abuse treatment and frequent, random testing for substance abuse. Drug Courts exist to provide participants with the opportunity to become productive, drug free members of the community while increasing public safety and reducing crime in a cost efficient manner. The Refuge
The Refuge substance abuse treatment program helps clients find life-long recovery, one day at a time. During The Refuge substance abuse treatment course, we look at the underlying causes for a client’s addiction, essentially we focus on the etiology of their addiction. The Refuge strongly believes in the twelve step process, therefore all of our clients attend some form of meeting. When clients arrive on property they receive a copy of “Alcoholics Anonymous”, “Daily Reflections” and “Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions.” This allows clients to become familiar with the twelve steps and understand that they are essential to long term recovery. New Life Connections: Our treatment programs are based on the findings of the assessment. We may use a combination of Group Sessions, Individual sessions and random urinalysis testing. Susan B Anthony Recovery Center: In 1995, the Junior League of Greater Ft. Lauderdale founded the Susan B Anthony Recovery Center to address the needs of mothers who suffered from substance addiction. Their goals were to remove the barriers for women entering treatment and to prevent their children from being placed in the over burdened foster care system. When a needs assessment was conducted, the number one need identified in Broward County was to establish a residential treatment program where women could keep their children with them while receiving the treatment they needed to learn to live their lives clean and sober. The first home was opened September 30, 1995 with five women and six children. The Center was named after the founder of the Junior League of Greater Ft. Lauderdale (in 1937). Our Center is the only residential treatment facility in Broward County that allows the children to reside with their mothers. This removes the number one reason for women to not enter treatment as it prevents their children from being place in the Foster Care system. Today, our program has grown to a capacity to serve over sixty families at a time on a beautiful five acre campus that includes 40 apartments, a child care center and an Administration / Treatment facility. Lighthouse Addiction Services is a comprehensive outpatient treatment program. Lighthouse Addiction Services provides a comprehensive, outpatient substance abuse treatment program.
