1. Block and delete your dealers phone number:
Block and delete your dealers phone number and delete their numbers from your call log: Let him know that it’s over. You’re done. You’re quitting this drug for good. He may tell you “ok, talk to you later”, because he’s heard it all before. But not this time because that’s it - you’re through. You’re going to be different. You’re going to quit heroin and stay clean for good.
2. Change your cell phone number, if necessary:
Change your cell phone number, if necessary: Sometimes, your dealer and friends who are using will call you, look for you and offer you a free bag which will bring you right back to where you started. Even if you block them they can still try to call you from another phone. So sometimes, the best thing to do is to get a whole new phone number and give it to close, heroin-free, friends and family only.
3. Destroy all drug paraphernalia:
Destroy your rigs, needles, syringes, foil, straws, empty baggies, drug kit and all drug paraphernalia. Break it all and throw it all away far away from your home. Destroy it and get rid of it – all of it, once and for all.
4. Let go of all drug using friends:Let go of all drug using friends, as hard as this can be. If they want to quit then help them. But if not then let them go. Doesn’t mean we don’t love them. Doesn’t mean we don’t care. But if they don’t want to quit then it may be best to let them go and keep moving forward.

5. Get some sort of counseling:
Get some sort of counseling, personal counseling, group support meetings, maybe enter an outpatient program as well. This can help greatly. Create your own support group of close friends, family members and Facebook friends as well.
6. Reach out for help:
When you’re feeling down or tempted to use, call someone, text someone, reach out for help. Get out of the house. Go out for a walk. Change your settings. Visit with friends or family. Listen to good, positive, uplifting music. Watch good, positive, uplifting movies. Think positive. Stay positive.
7. Think about your future:
Start thinking about what you would like to do with the rest of your life. Start setting goals, housing goals, financial goals, health related goals, relationship goals and more. Then start working on those goals daily. Keep yourself busy with work, hobbies, exercise, working on goals, but not so busy that it starts to stress you out as stress can lead to relapse.
8. Start building and rebuilding your health:
Start building and rebuilding your health by taking vitamins, supplements, eating healthy foods and drinking plenty of water as well. Start doing some form of exercise, walking or jogging daily as a healthy lifestyle can help to counteract drug addiction. And all of this will help with PAWS as well, (Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome), the after effects of coming off of heroin. Using Kratom every 3 to 4 days can also help with PAWS.
For help with stress and anxiety: Try Valerian Root capsules (natures valium); Hops capsules (a natural herbal supplement placed in beer by beer manufactures which helps calm the nerves); Malta Goya non-alcohol beverage drink also contains Hops and enough sugar content to help keep one calm and relaxed. Chamomile Tea and Kava Kava capsules can also help to relieve stress and anxiety.
For help getting sleep: Try Vicks ZzzQuil (or CVS NightTime Sleep Aid equivalent). Try Melatonin, GABA, 5-HTP, and Hylands Calm Forte which is a combination of sleep aids combined that may help you to get some sleep.

9. Consider staying clean w/Medication Assisted Treatment:
If you’re trying to stay clean from heroin then you may want to consider getting on MAT, Medication Assisted Treatment, Suboxone, Methadone or the Vivitrol shot, the 30 day heroin blocker as all of these can help you to stay clean for good.
Please remember, there is no one size fits all. What may work for one person may not work for another. And just because one form of treatment didn't work for one person doesn't mean that it wont work for someone else. MAT treatment, when done correctly and under medical supervision has been proven to be effective and life saving when it comes to heroin and opioid addiction treatment. There’s no doubt that MAT treatment has saved many lives and it can help save yours too.
If you keep having a hard time staying clean then you may want to consider getting the Vivitrol/Naltexone injection which is a one-time per month shot that blocks the effects from heroin for 30 days. And once you realize that no matter what you do you simply cannot get high on heroin anymore then you give up trying to do so and move on with your recovery. Vivitrol has helped a lot of people stay clean and it can help you too.
For more information on Vivitrol/Naltexone please read the article “Staying Clean with Vivitrol, the 30 Day Heroin Blocker”.

10. Think positive, stay positive:
Think positive. Stay positive. Think about your future, think about your goals. Think about all the good things you can accomplish without heroin in your life. Think about how wonderful it’s going to be to be free from heroin once and for all – finally! Think positive. Stay positive. And don’t let anything or anyone get you down.
11. Be humble, stay humble:
Be humble, stay humble. Be patient. Be kind. Show love and kindness to everyone who comes your way. Help others to stay clean every chance you get by encouraging them to do so and to keep moving forward.
12. Consider moving, relocating:
If you can’t stay clean where you live, or you simply want to start a whole new life all over again somewhere new then consider relocating. Move to another city. Move to another state. Move to another country.
Change people, places, things. New people. New places. New things. Relocating has helped a lot of people in many ways and it can help you too. And if you’ve already relocated before then you can always try again. It just might be the best move you’ll ever make. A whole new start. A whole new place. A whole new life.
You can do this. You can really do this. This is your future. This is your life. And what you do now will determine how the rest of your life turns out. So do whatever it takes to get clean and stay clean for good. Over 20 years clean from heroin, and clean from every other drug since March 1st 2009. And God help me, I will never touch drugs again.
