What heroin addiction was like for me:

Waking up in the morning sick from withdrawals. Always had to come up with a plan to get money to buy a bag of heroin, just to get cured and feel normal.

First, lie to my mother to get money from her or search the home for anything I can sell. If that didn't work, then call my dope family to see if they have any funds or a plan to get funds to get high. If that didn't work, then I'm off to the General Hospital, not to get help, but to steal a car from their parking lot, even with security cameras watching.

Then drive across town in the stolen car, and in those days Lawrence Mass police were always on the lookout for people like me in stolen cars. But I didn't care, because all I cared about was getting high, getting that first bag of the day in order to avoid going into full withdrawals.

I'd park the stolen car about a hundred feet away from the junk yard, carefully remove the factory stereo system, and walk into the junk yard and sell it for $25. Get back in the car, drive to the dope spot, get my bag, and a pack of cigs, drive back home, always on the lookout for cops, park the car at the top of my block just in case I need it for later, and finally get into my home, get that bag into my system to relieve myself from withdrawals and become worry free, at least for the moment.

And then later on in the day find my dope brothers to figure out what was the next plan for the evening.

Roaming the streets at night, 2, 3, 4:am in the morning looking for more cars to steal, more stereos and whatever else we can find. Wake up the next day and do it all over again, and again and again and again. That was my daily life.

Lying, stealing, cheating, jail, hurting my loved ones daily, and so much more. All of that just for heroin. That's what heroin addiction was like for me and many others as well.

What getting clean was like for me:

But getting clean was amazing! Like a dream come true. Waking up in the morning to feel normal, to feel my normal body once again, no cold chills, no withdrawals, no nothing. Being clean allowed me to spend quality time with my first born son, my little buddy Jorgie, my girl, my mom and my loved ones. Being clean allowed me to work, keep my job, pay my rent and bills on time! Being clean allowed me to have another son, my little boy Jesse, more fun, more love, more happiness, more reason to live and stay clean.

Being clean allowed me to buy my first home, start a business, become successful and financially free. Being clean allowed me to have my first baby girl Princess Jasmin, and wow! That was great! Having a little girl made me soft. More fun, more love, more happiness. Waking up and hugging your kids in the morning is an amazing feeling. Being clean allowed me to take my family on a cruise to Mexico, Honduras and Belize where I was able to climb to the top of the pyramids just like on the Discovery channel. Like a dream come true.

Being clean allowed me to move to a tropical island and have another beautiful daughter, my Baby Doll Venessa. More fun, more love, more happiness. Nothing like coming home and seeing your kids running to greet you and hug you. Ahhhh the family life, what a wonderful thing. There's nothing like it.

I lived both lives:

I had both, I lived both, the drug life, the heroin life and the family life. And believe me, I'll take the family life any day over anything else this world has to offer! There's nothing like living a drug free life and living your life for others, with others, with people who love you and want to be around you. There's nothing like finding true love.

So man, if you're still struggling with drugs, with heroin then please hurry up and quit these drugs, stay clean and turn your life around. You can do it! You can really do it. And if you're already clean then please do whatever it takes to stay clean for good and create a new and better life for yourself, for your loved ones and for others as well. You can do it! You can really do this. Get ready for a better life! Much love to all of you!
