Chabad Rehabilitation Center
Chabad Rehabilitation Center: Since 1972 thousands of men from every imaginable background have successfully received treatment at Chabad Rehabilitation Center, based on criteria established by the national institute on drug abuse, Washington DC. Graduates of our long-term program achieve far above the national recovery rate in their quest to re-orient their life. Chabad views drug abuse as a symptom of a deeper problem. Our program uses a psychological-therapy and 12 step model that concentrates on the underlying issues contributing to dependence. We focus on establishing a structure that promotes recovery and improves the quality of life, placing special significance on ethical and moral growth that is so vital to the development of personal integrity. Accordingly, although the program is non-sectarian, it is based on the age old values of Jewish Torah, the source of Judeo-Christian values. Our goal is to give each client the foundation and motivation to lead an alcohol and drug free lifestyle with confidence, as a productive member of society. Chabad works to ensure that each graduate will have the tools he needs to effectively cope with the psychological, environmental, emotional and interpersonal triggers of relapse. American Drug Recovery Program
American Drug Recovery Program: Alcohol and other drug abuse is a situation in which the individual’s thoughts and behaviors are substantially influenced by the abusive use of alcohol or other drugs. The degree of use is always a fundamental focus because it usually determines the treatment plan. Alcoholics, in particular, and many drug abusers are manipulative, dishonest, in denial, and rationalize their behavior. All of these “defenses” need to be confronted as part of the therapy as appropriate. The goal is to provide for the immediate safety of the abuser in the least intrusive manner, ranging from immediate involuntary hospitalization to weekly therapy with a contract to come to sessions 24-hour sober too assist the client in overcoming the substance abuse, if this is what the client wants to do. It is a reasonable treatment option to work with a substance abuser while moving him / her toward abstinence. For more information please contact American Drug Recovery Program.

Higher Goals
Higher Goals was incorporated in 1992 to bring hope and help to those suffering and homeless in Los Angeles neighborhoods. Originally a service arm of the Prayer Time Mission founded in 1971 by Dorothy and John Thompson, the ministry was a response to a growing community need for assistance with housing. As the Thompsons and their friends reached out to the homeless, it soon became apparent that more services were needed than could be financed by church members alone. An expanding financial base allowed Higher Goals, Inc. to add more resources including an emergency shelter with 20 beds and supportive services. 90-Day residency and transitional housing with stays of up to 6 months at multiple sites, job training and employment services are now available. As outreach has stepped up, referrals have increased from info line and other resources throughout Los Angeles county. Today Higher Goals, Inc. works in tandem with many agencies in order to maximize the services we provide to an ever – increasing constituency. Higher Goals, Inc. community workers respond to all people in need. We serve the AIDS community by providing case management for HIV+ clients in collaboration with Drew Medical Center. Through vigorous networking, we provide the following services: Drug/Alcohol/Mental Health counseling; Elder Care; Job Training; Literacy Assistance; HIV+/AIDS; Money Management workshops; Permanent Housing; Life Skills Training; Parenting Education; Cultural Awareness Education; Specialized Support Groups. Homeless Health Care Los Angeles
Homeless Health Care Los Angeles: The mission of Homeless Health Care Los Angeles (HHCLA) is to improve the health of homeless people through direct services, education and advocacy. We’re people, just like you, who cannot site by idly while our brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, friends and neighbors, go without the basic things in life—like simple health care, a meal, a safe place to sleep at night. Since 1985, board members, the executive director, staff and volunteers of HHCLA have dedicated themselves to improving the health of Los Angeles’ homeless. When we see expressions of hope and relief on the faces of those whom we serve, we know that we, as professional social workers, health care advocates, trainers, sponsors, and donors, are truly making an impact on this enormous social problem. Eliminating homelessness in Los Angeles will not come soon, that is a near certainty. We can, however, provide the homeless population with a modest amount of health services, education, and a political voice in the meantime. And with your support, we can do more.
